Can I mix rustic with retro & modern?

I like the barnwood & chipped paint look but also like 50s Chrome, Red , Aqua, & Green & vintage stuff. And, I want to incorporate modern things in the room too.... Is this possible? We are opening our kitchen (currently done retro), our living room (rustic/Mexico) and adding a dining room. I really wanted to do barnwood & tin on the walls, but not sure how it will mix with the retro kitchen etc. What flooring can go with all these looks???

If I were to choose mixing rustic with retro and modern is really fine. It is a good combbination for me, because if you combine them, the place would look traditional but elegant. But if you incorporate things with other colors, it's also fine as long as there will be an attractive harmony. Just don't make the place too bright, most especially if the place is made of wood.
