Questions: Need some advice about reupholstering some kitchen chairs?

Thank author of this post/commentMy mother in law is having an old barnwood table restored for us, and she is leaving the chair tops(cushions) to me so I can match them to my kitchen. I am trying to find a good fabric, that cleans easily because I have 2 boys under 4. I want something that looks nice, but also something that doesnt stain too easily. Any ideas?

It is good that old barnwood furniture can be reused with just some reupholstering. The idea about using Microfiber suede (100% polyester)as reupholstering material is a good one. I think I'll canvass that material as well to reupholster our computer chair which has a worn out cushion seat.

I think there are still lots of things we can do out of the old barnwood furniture like chairs and tables. Barn boards and beams in our barnwood are piling up and we make use of them in making some tables, chairs, shelves, and the like.

Being creative is really a big help since even old things have something great to give. Some even make business on it.

Great day.

Barn woods are good to use in making some other good stuffs. Some of the furniture at my grandpa's place were all used to be old barn woods. And now they are all great looking furniture. Who would think that those furniture are from old barn wood? Not unless you ask my grandpa about them.

Thanks for sharing in here guys and good day ahead to all of you. ciao.

Try some vinyl covered cushions in earth colors. Those you can easily wipe clean when food or liquids are spilled on them, and if they have foam inside, then they will still be rather soft and comfortable. Choose earth colors, because barn wood will match better with those tones, or if you want a brighter look, choose spring colors or some checkered pioneer type pattern in red or blue.

After you reupholster your chairs, what you should do it buy that really soft plastic that you can drape over the cushions. This will protect the fabric without compromising on looks. Make sure the plastic you buy is transparent too.
