| Answers: My mom..... HELP!!!!!!!! Please and thank you :)? I have been riding for quite sometime now, I am 16 years old, and I own my own 5 year old mare that I have trained with some aid but mostly by myself. My mom thinks she knows EVERYTHING so every time she comes out to the barn with me (which is almost always because shes my ride- then she likes to sometimes watch me ride) she critiques me and treats me like I am 5. Like I will show her something cool or something I taught my horse and she will not respond with cool or something but instead she will shoot back a "put her head down, dont do that, etc...". She thinks she knows it all but alot of the time she is actually wrong. Like I was lunging her yesterday and the whole time my mom was telling me what to do (make her trot, switch her directions, etc...) but I know what I am doing and I know I am doing it right because I was taught, not my mom. Then I brought friends yesterday and I was trying to coax them through it because some of them had never been around horses or ridden before so of course there scared and I just wanted them to know how to stop the horse, turn, and go. The basics of course. My mom was sitting there trying to act like she knew everything and was telling this girl to back up the horse, use your leg, get her head down etc... but she was practically crying she was so scared because my mare is young and has an attitude sometimes (dominant at points) and she had to listen to my mom and I trying to instruct her. She didnt know how to use her leg or get her head down.... I just needed her to sit up and squeeze. AHHH. I tried telling her but she just got mad and threatened to not take me to the barn anymore, that was a while ago and I dont wanna try that again! Help! What do I do? Shes making riding not as enjoyable :(( |
