Do you think I am big on my favourite pony? - Uses for Old Barns
| Do you think I am big on my favourite pony? There's a pony I love in the barn I ride at, but he is really small. He bites when you put on the girth and starts moving when you get on and bites if someone is helping you get on. I don't think he is uncomfortable because he did that with other people too, and he is fine once you get on him, but I don't want to strain him if I am too tall or heavy for him. Im around 145 cm and weigh around 80 pounds. his withers reach to somewhere around me shoulders, I can use my leg perfectly on him, but my feet reaches to around his shoulders. I look tall for him but am perfectly comfortable. He has this super fast canter that I love. Back to the subject, so do you think I am too tall for him? I don't know how much hands he is because he belongs to the barn I take lessons at. Also will I be too big for him in a year or so? I don't know how old he is by the way. my trainer didn't say anything when I rode him a few times before By the way, I just found out that he bites to be annoying. He isn't used for beginners because he is kind of hard to control. He bit somebody just because they went into his stall. But I still love him. What are some signs that i'm too heavy for him? Please don't say biting because almost every horse/pony in the barn bites when you put on their girth and some bite when you lead them. |
| I can bear with you. I also thought the same thing when I was caring a pony in my father’s barn. I loved staying on that place and look after his horses. Actually, he just renovated the barn since it was already too old. Anyway, every horse or pony has a different body structure so I think it will depend on the body structure of a pony to check whether it can carry you or not. |
