Neglected, blind, limping....it's killing me? - Uses for Old Barns
| Neglected, blind, limping....it's killing me? I was over at my friends house and I saw these horses. We both love horses so we went up with some fruit to feed them. She said the owner is never up there so, he probably wouldn't see us. So I was expecting to see some dirt and maybe a troth or some sort. But, there was NO food at all. He had a tub set up to catch rain water from the gutters. So they had water. They weren't really skinny. But, when we came with food they ran to us and were pushing against the make-shift fence. The one was blind in one eye and his hooves were to long so he was walking funny. He was also very jealous and didn't let the other horse eat much. So we fed her separate. She said every now and again he comes to cut the grass but he doesn't pay ANY attention to the horses. Then, she said something that totally shocked me. She said that there used to be three horses but, the one died. I asked how and she said it starved to death because the other horse was so controlling and never let her eat. She said that it died and laid there for days before someone finally called him and told him his horse is dead and he needs to come get it. He did, picked it up and didn't come back for a while. They have a very small barn barely big enough for two horses. If they wanted they could get out of that fence easily. My mom said that it's up to my friend's parents if they want to call the police because it's their neighbor. So, should I persuade her parents to call the police? Or maybe me and my friend could volunteer to help them? Her dad knows how to trim their hooves, so he could do that. We could bring up fruits and vegetables for them and brush them and play with them. I think they are too old and/or wild to ride. Ow sorry I forgot to mention that he mows the grass outside the fence. There isn't much inside the fence. My friend is convinced that her and the other neighbors are the only reason that the horses aren't starved because they feed them and they never see him there. So it's not just her. |
